この度、弊社が、2023年5月30日に配信したリリース「日本初！LoRAモデル作成者・プロンプト作成者にも収益還元される、AIイラスト投稿サービス『petapi（ペタピ）』をリリース」に関しまして、クリエイターや絵師の皆様の権利を保護する体制が不十分なサービス内容となっておりました。 これらの問題につき、十分な対応及び対策を取らずにリリースをしてしまったことにつきまして、クリエイターの皆様をはじめ、本件に関わる全ての皆様に、深くお詫び申し上げます。
弊社は、急速に進化する生成AI技術の中で、AIクリエイターの皆様をサポートすることを目的として、「petapi」というサービスを構想し、立ち上げました。 しかしながら、リリース後、多くのクリエイターの皆様から、生成AI技術による権利侵害への懸念を伺いました。 このような批判はクリエイターや絵師の皆様のお立場からすれば当然のものであり、弊社として関係者の皆様への配慮が足りなかったと認識しております。 弊社は、クリエイターの皆様からいただいた批判を真摯に受け止め、これまで描いてきたサービス構想やプロジェクトの進め方を改めることと致しました。
弊社は、クリエイターや絵師の皆様などの著作権者が、弊社サービスの内容に賛同され、自身の作品をLoRA化すること、及び承認フローを経て認定された公認のAIクリエイターがそれを活用することを前提とし、このようなサービスであればクリエイターや絵師の皆様の権利を保護できると考えておりましたが、関係者の皆様に十分な告知を行うことができていなかったと反省しております。
今後、LoRAモデルの取り扱いに関しては、LoRAの盗用を管理できる仕組みや、使用した画像の著作権を確認できる仕組み、著作権者が承認したLoRAモデルを使用して生まれた利益を著作権者に還元する仕組み、さらには登録時に使用したモデルとLoRAを明示することが要件となる仕組みなどを、テスト的に協力いただけるクリエイターの皆様と共に開発してまいります。
具体的な方法については、サービスの仕様、機能、進行方法などを慎重に議論し、後日改めて発表させていただきます。

With regard to the release "Japan's first AI illustration submission service 'petapi' that returns profits to LoRA model creators and prompt creators," which was issued on May 30, 2023, the content of the service was insufficient to protect the rights of creators and illustrators. The content of the service was inadequate to protect the rights of creators and artists. We deeply apologize to all creators and all others involved in this matter for releasing the service without taking sufficient action and measures to address these issues.
We conceived and launched the "petapi" service with the aim of supporting AI creators amidst the rapid evolution of generative AI technology. However, since its release, we have heard from many creators that they are concerned about infringement of their rights by generative AI technology. We recognize that such criticisms are natural from the standpoint of creators and artists, and that we have not given enough consideration to all parties involved. We have taken the criticisms received from the creators seriously, and have decided to revise our service concept and the way we have been proceeding with the project.
We had envisioned that our service concept and project would proceed on the premise that creators, artists, and other copyright holders would agree with the content of our service and LoRA their own works, and that AI creators certified through the approval process would use the LoRA-ized works. However, we regret that we were unable to provide sufficient notice to all parties concerned.
In the future, with regard to the handling of LoRA models, we will be working on a system to manage LoRA plagiarism, a system to confirm the copyright of images used, a system to return profits generated from the use of LoRA models approved by copyright holders to copyright holders, and a system that requires that the model and LoRA used be clearly indicated at the time of registration, among other things. We will develop such a mechanism together with creators who are willing to cooperate with us on a test basis.
The specific method will be announced at a later date, after we have thoroughly reviewed the service specifications, functions, and progression method.
We are committed to providing an environment where creators can further expand the possibilities of their creative activities through the use of generative AI technology. We sincerely apologize again for the lack of respect and consideration for creators in the distribution of this release.
